Project Introduction

Hello! My name is Jamari Shaun Williams and I am the developer for Dribble King. I wanted to introduce this project a bit. I have made games in proprietary game engines like Unity and Unreal Engine, but I wanted to try making one without an engine. I have the most experience in C/C++, so I wanted to choose a framework that uses that language. I chose Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL) because its cross-platform and I may want to make the game for mobile eventually. Popular games have used SDL before like Half Life 2, Angry Birds, and VVVVVV to name a few. I've actually been working on this project for about a month now, but I thought I should start doing devlogs for it. It's still very bare-bones, but here's what I have so far. I have working input and a camera, as shown in the video at the top.
Until I find better assets, this is what I'm working with. I have created an Entity Component System and I'm working on collision right now, so those will be in the next few devlogs. I'm excited to see where this project will go!
